Gemini Season: A Simple Guide to This Carefree Time

Gemini Season is here and you don’t know how to utilize that energy? Read this post and learn the basics of the sign, when it is, and how to embrace the characteristics of Gemini.

Dates to Gemini Season

Gemini Season is roughly May 21st-June 20th. After the hard-working and determined Taruas Season, it’s time for a break. Gemini Season is a time to be curious, social, and creative.

Greek Mythology Behind the Gemini Constellation

The image of the twins represents this zodiac sign. In Greek Mythology, the twins are half Brothers Castor and Pollux. Castor was the son of a mortal king and Pollux was the son of Zeus. When Castor was killed Pollux was so heartbroken that he asked his father Zeus to allow him to die as well. Softened by his son’s request, Zeus allowed both men to share immortality. They are always together in the sky as they travel back and forth between the heavens and the underworld.

The Twins’ brotherly love reflects every person’s need for completion.

All About Gemini

Planetary Ruler of Gemini

Mercury rules Gemini. Understanding Merucy helps us understand Gemini.

Mercury is the Roman Messenger God or Greek God Hermes. Winged Mercury brought messages to and from the Gods. He was able to travel to both the heavens and the underworld freely. He is associated with transition, communication, and commerce. His name means “market” (Mercatus) and “commerce” (commercium)1.

He is a god of trade and travelers, the mind, communication, and exchange.

Gemini Characteristics

Gemini is an Air sign. Like the breeze, Air signs and Gemini have thoughts that are forever flowing. They are known for their intellect and quick wit.

Gemini is the last sign of springtime and it begins the transition into Summer. It is a mutable sign. They love change and can adapt well to it2. Because of this they are very flexible and adjust to new situations and ideas easily.

However, the downside is they can get bored easily and can be seen as flaky. All the ebbing and flowing can cause them to be uncertain of who they are and leads to nervous and anxious feelings.

Gemini Rules the Third House. As the third house of the zodiac, Gemini is all about learning. Gemini finds the whole world fascinating and can’t wait to learn all about it3. This sign has a strong desire to learn about language. It has a knack for communication, storytelling, and teaching, and loves to share ideas.

Gemini Rules the lungs, arms, hands, and nervous system. They are born storytellers and are well-versed in creating art.

In short, Gemini is thought to represent; communication, short-range travel, wit, intellect, the love of learning, curiosity, mental chatter, being nervous, and teaching.

How to Make the Most of Gemini Season

Loosen up

Let that Sh*t go! Winged Mercury and air sign Gemini don’t let anything weigh them down. This sign is not serious or stern. There are no goals to achieve or restrictions set like some other signs. Let life come at you and just roll with it.

Get Curious

Let your mind wander. Allow yourself to be open to new things and free to explore whatever your heart desires for that split second. I recommend popping into the library and meandering through the rows of books. Find a subject that you never knew you were interested in and read up on it. You could also go down a Youtube rabbit hole on a topic your want to know more about.

Socialize

The constellation Gemini represents the twin brothers. Call up or visit with your siblings. I can talk to my sisters for hours about nothing! Even if you don’t talk to them anytime but at Christmas, make this an opportunity to open the lines of communication again.

Join a club with people who share an interest with you. Finally, join that bowling league or knitting group. Having something in common will help break the ice. Let the free exchange of ideas flow.

Even a simple night out with your spouse can open you up to meeting new friends. Have fun!

Short Trips

Embrace Gemini energy and take a day trip. You’d be surprised at all the new places you can visit just a few hours away from home.

Get Artsy

Ruler of Arms and Hands, Gemini can really get crafty. Use this time to take on a new hobby that requires the use of your hands. Maybe you’ve always wanted to try painting or woodworking, yarn art, or even poetry. However, don’t spend too much money on it. If Gemini is involved, you might not be doing it for long.

Focus on your Breath

The Respiratory system is ruled by Gemini. Focusing on your breath can be a good way to ground all that air energy and it can help calm that ever-running mental chatter.

Set a timer and take 3 big breaths every hour.

There are also ancient breath techniques used by yoga practitioners. One of the eight limbs of Yoga is all about breath work called pranayama. Look up some of these and you are learning something new AND focusing on your breath. Way to multitask! Here is a link to the basics of some breathwork techniques.

I hope you learned what you were hoping to.

My hope is that this information helps you understand the key energies behind the Gemini zodiac sign, how you can apply them during Gemini Season, and help you understand the Geminis in your life.
